Our appointment with the Geneticist!

We had an appointment with Dr Zunich this morning. She was referred to us by our pediatrician and therapist. Appt was about an hour and a half and consisted of lots of information, my giving of facts about both sides of our family. It went pretty well. Here's what we covered in detail:

She asked several questions about all sides of our family, relatives, any birth problems, etc. She did a physical (in which I had to step on the scale with jer then without him because he won't stay on the big scale -eeek) then spoke a bunch about a list of possible genetic issues that he could have and will be tested for. Jer has blood work to be done that she suggested we do in South Bend on Monday when we see the Neurologist, for a consultation.

Then once the first round of results come back she'll determine what he should be tested for next.

She went over causes of ASD (autism spectrum disorders) which, in her opinion, are mostly genetic and environmental.
She wrote the pertinent info down for me to take. I have a folder of all his stuff that is growing by the day! I also keep a notebook where I'm keeping track of all of his appointments and such.
So next up is the pediatric neurologist for a consultation on Monday. We will continue with speech and occupational therapy as well as contact First Steps to see what other services we can get!

Jeremy has been such a champ through this whole process-which I had no doubts about.

There are so many books and toys I want to get for him (to help with his sensory disintegration and speech) so I'm hoping the First steps program
can help with that. The occupational therapist said that they will be sending us home with a home sensory kit that is designed specifically for him.

Just taking it one day at a time. That you from the bottom of my heart for all the support.
