Had another IFSP (individual family service plan) this morning to discuss the transition to the school district that will take place once Jeremy turns 3.
Got to meet the representative from the Linden school district, Sherri. She and Bonnie (service coord.) talked to me about what assessments will take place in order to find out what services he will qualify for once he turns 3.
Services that he already qualifies for will start in a week or so. Those will be given at home and will be for about 6 hours a week.
Sherri spoke about what services will be provided once they determine he is eligible for SPEP (special education programs). If eligible, he will be bused to Manteca for a preschool program. If not eligible he will go to speech therapy that is conducted by a teacher within Linden Unified.
All of this should be determined by the end of November, and definitely by December.
The autism evaluation/screening should take place by next week. Once that happens, we'll have a better idea of how next year will start!
At this point I'm just trying to keep him socially active by locating free classes, playgroups and a support group for us. Or at least that is my goal this week.
Ian is doing great in preschool! He is going to be more than ready for Kindergarten next year. We are hoping to sign him up for little league soon.
Next year will be our busiest year yet!
Good luck! We're thinking about you and sending lots of love.
