Jeremy did fantastic today. This morning was basically a preliminary therapy session. The supervisor asked me a series of questions then played with Jeremy with certain toys to see what he liked most. She seems to think therapy can start next week, depending on the therapists schedule. I will find out this week. It will be 6 hours a week; 2 hours in the morning on M W & F. So YAY for that =)
Jer's assessment at 2pm went well too. By 3:30 he was ready to go though...poor kid. What a trooper he is. My sweet boy! Well anyway, in reference to the title of my post I'd like to tell everyone (not for any reason but to just keep you updated with what's happening with Jer) that he has been diagnosed with Autism. The clinical psychologist was awesome and made the whole process very relaxing and easy for both of us. I kinda knew what to expect which is why I have been so anxious to get this done so that we could stop playing the guessing game and just get done what we need to get done.
For now, it's just a matter of making sure he gets what he needs and get supports in place. We have been doing what has been needed for over a year now, so it won't really be anything new.
The psychologist mentioned that we are in a great area and the services for kids with special needs is outstanding.
So for now, I just pray for strength and guidance and patience for our family and trust that we are doing everything in our power to make sure Jeremy gets EVERYTHING he needs...including as much of our time and love as possible.
Knowing IS half the battle! You are a strong woman and I know you will get through this and anything else life might throw at you! You are a wonderful mom. You have great support around you, just remember that you are NOT alone! Love you lots!
