I spent an hour this afternoon with a psychologist that was referred to us by our new pediatrician. She reviewed the two questionnaires I had filled out regarding Jeremy's actions, health and mental background. She also asked several questions relating to autism and sensory issues. She recommended that we schedule appointments with a geneticist and a pediatric neurologist to continue to rule out other challenges.
He will start speech therapy as soon as possible as well as get evaluated for sensory issues. He will also be seeing the psychologist twice before she can give her assessment.
She recommended that we keep him from preschool/daycare for now. We'll be so busy with appointments that putting him in will just be overload and where we take him might not be a good fit for him at this time. We are still going to put Ian into school starting next Thursday, he needs playtime with other kids!!
I have lots of research to do! The psychologist told me we need to start looking for support groups in the area as well.
We have lots to do but I'm so relieved that it's all going so smoothly.
